1.Temperature Reduction and Anti-vaporization: Friction between the sealing faces generates a large amount of heat. High temperatures easily cause vaporization of the sealing medium, which damages the liquid film on the sealing faces and leads to leakage. Heat exchangers can cool the high-temperature medium in the seal chamber or the flushing fluid. For example, in API PLAN 21 and PLAN 23 schemes, the medium treated by the heat exchanger can effectively prevent the vaporization of the sealing medium and ensure the stability of the liquid film.

2.Sealing Environment Improvement: The cooled medium can reduce the coking and polymerization of the medium. At the same time, when used in conjunction with filtering components, it can reduce impurity accumulation and minimize wear on the sealing faces. Some heat exchangers equipped with filters can also trap impurities in the pipeline, further extending the service life of mechanical seals.

3.Auxiliary Gas Venting and Pressure Stabilization: In schemes such as API PLAN 21, when the medium enters the seal chamber after being cooled by the heat exchanger, it can also expel air or steam from the seal chamber, preventing gases from affecting the pressure stability of the seal.
