Composition of Mechanical Seal Support Systems

A complete mechanical seal assembly consists of three core parts: the primary seal, the secondary seal, and the seal circulation protection system

(commonly referred to as the mechanical seal system).

- The primary seal contains the process fluid.

- The secondary seal provides auxiliary sealing.

The mechanical seal system performs essential functions including flushing, lubrication improvement, temperature control, pressure regulation, contaminant removal, fluid replacement,

and dilution of leaked media. Its main purpose is to create an optimal operating environment for both primary and secondary seals, ensuring the primary seal runs under ideal conditions.

This significantly improves the reliability of the mechanical seal and extends its service life.

The mechanical seal system is also known as a mechanical seal support system, or a mechanical seal flush, cooling and piping system. Below is an overview of the basic components of

the system and its key subsystems, such as the pressure control system, temperature control system, contaminant removal system, and fluid barrier/replacement system.

The basic components of a mechanical seal system include:

- Storage tanks

- Pressurization tanks

- Heat exchangers

- Filters

- Hydrocyclone separators

- Orifice plates

- Throttle bushings

- Circulating rings

- Circulating sleeves

- Leakage indicators

-  Piping and fittings

Control instruments
Proper selection and maintenance of these parts are critical to reliable performance of mechanical seal support systems in industrial applications
