Four Core Components of a Mechanical Seal

1. Friction Pair (Rotary Ring & Stationary Ring)

The core sealing element. Common material combinations include silicon carbide-graphite, silicon carbide-silicon carbide, and cemented carbide.

These combinations determine wear resistance, anti-crystallization performance and corrosion resistance.

2. Elastic Compensation Unit (Coil Spring / Metal Bellows)

It compensates for friction face wear and axial shaft movement automatically, maintaining constant contact between sealing faces.

3. Elastic O-Ring Seals

Available in EPDM, FKM Viton and FFKM perfluoroelastomer.

They eliminate leakage at static sealing points and resist swelling and corrosion caused by process media.

4. Shaft Sleeve & Seal Gland

The shaft sleeve protects the pump main shaft from abrasion and corrosion, while the seal gland holds the entire seal assembly and connects piping for API flush and barrier fluid

systems.
